The gay parade has a very interesting history. It started off as a march in rememberance to gays who were discriminated against in New York City. It was more like a roit following a police raid of a gay bar-the Stonewall Inn.
The San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Celebration Committee says thier mission is to educate the world, commemorate thier heritage, celebrate thier culture, and liberate thier people.
The Gay Flag was introduced at the 1978 San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Freedom Day Parade, andhas been adopted all over the world. The flag was designed by Gilbert Baker who was an artist and vexillographer. Each color has a different meaning. The original flag had 7 stripes of different colors, but then removed a stripe because they "ran out of dye". It then created a flag with an even number of stripes. Today, there are different versions of flag. Some flags have a black stripe added to it as a symbol to those lost to AIDS.

Sexual Deviance vs. Alternative Lifestyle
Many people have different views on such a controversial issue of same-sex marriages. Some sees it as evil and others see it as being perfectly normal. In this post I will discuss different views of homosexuality.
The arguement against same sex marriages are narrowed down to a few but important points. Number one reasonnot involving religion are children. Society wants children to be raised in a "normal" family. Children who have gay parents usually live in a household with only parent. The absence of a parent could be a cause to a child misbehaving. Many people against homosexuality believes that children should not be exposed to this kind of chaotic culture because it will lead to a corrupt mind.
"A recent article in the Weekly Standard described how the advent of legally sanctioned gay unions in Scandinavian countries has already destroyed the institution of marriage, where half of today's children are born out of wedlock. "
"It is predicted now, based on demographic trends in this country, that more than half of the babies born in the 1990s will spend at least part of their childhood in single-parent homes. "
The counter arguement against same sex marriages are based on equality. Gender should not have an influence as to who people marry. Homosexuals need the same security of having a life long partner. On another note, homosexuals believe that people who use "religion" as a reason to be against same sex marriage are hypocrites. If you do biblical marriage, then you're talking about Polygamy. Or, you're talking about no divorce. Jesuse himself had nothing to say about homosexuality, but he's very clear on divorce. So I don't know why gay people are the only people in America who have to follow biblical law. I don't think that's fair...AT ALL!

Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Celebrity Figures
In today's society, more and more celebrities are "coming out of the closet", they serve as role models to the gay community. I will talk about some celebrities who are out in the open. Please keep in mind that these sources aren't particularly reliable. None are. Authorities that range from thorough professional biographies to rumours disagree on just who is/was or isn't/wasn't, and have about the same track record for accuracy. There is also substantial cross-pollination between list-makers. An erroneous listing will show up again and again on other sources. Perhaps the true questions is which of them would have self-identified as gay, lesbian or bisexual? The answer is very few because of societal attitudes towards homosexuality. Different cultures and different times would have made the admission impossible for some, and ridiculous for others. However there is no point to such a list. Famous gays and lesbians do not validate the existence of non famous gays and lesbians. Centuries of closeted men and women likewise adds no importance of validity to today's men and women. The only point can be "curiousity".
Here are a few people I decided to write about. If you are interested you can visit the website to search for more celebrities worldwide.

Homosexuality
Out of all the topics I could choose from to express my thoughts on, I chose homosexuality. Why you may ask? I live in a very tolerant city (New York City). Not only do I attend a school with a large homosexual community, but I have good friends who are gays and lesbians. Personally, i believe people have the right to choose who their life partner should be. Love comes in many forms and should have no restrictions, especially because of gender. Throughout history, many groups have fought for equal rights. Eventually after the struggle their rights have been established. African Americans fought for their rights, women fought for their rights, so whose to say that "gay people" can't triumph over the discrimination and hatred in order to earn their rights?.. not as gay people but their rights as humans. If I were to ask anyone what is the greatest thing about America.. the answer I would most likely get is "this nation is so diverse" Diversity is what makes this country different from the rest of the world and should be respected. This nation is turning a blinds eye to an uprising demographic, gays and lesbians are the new target for discrimination and hate crimes. Different communities have different outlooks on homesexuality. Some communities are mature enough to coexist with homesexuals and offer protection to them. Where as other communities banned homosexuality. Although change does not happen overnight, gays and lesbians are starting to be recognized and are gradually gaining rights. However, tolerating homosexual behavior is on a whole different caliber than legally consenting to this behavior.
